A few hours later, when I rebooted the iPad, and in turn tried to boot VLC, it crashed. From there I exported it to VLC and I was able to play a few moments of the video then I quit out of the app and shut down. The file, an MP4, by default, loaded into Photos. In the first instance (iPad), VLC had already been booted. If there is any commonality, I think it may be this: Both on the iPad and the iPhone, the crash happened after an Airdrop transfer of a video from my iMac. The app remains in the active queue until you swipe it up.Īt first I thought perhaps I had over-loaded my VLC library, but that pertained only to the iPad relatively few videos were in VLC (or anywhere else) on the iPhone. Then, today, a few weeks later, under the same conditions, it crashed on my iPhone in the same manner: a brief glimpse of the orange startup screen, then a snap back to the iOS home screen. I have not yet deleted the app for reinstalling (more on this in a moment), but updating the app and making sure I was running the latest version of iOS didn't help.
